Our Thoughts on Bike Rentals

We love riding bikes.  We love it so much that we are incredibly picky about being comfortable on them.  In fact we demand it.  And we apply the same demands to your experience on the bike on our tours.  In other words, we don’t want the bike to be a distraction from you fully enjoying your experience with us.

Our Self Guided tours are generally easily completed on hybrid bikes as well as regular road bikes.   Hybrids are designed to be quickly and easily adjusted to fit anyone.  The riding is gentle and we are happy to rent you hybrids and road bikes on any of our Self Guided Tours.

We however have strong feelings about renting on some of our more demanding tours.  The riding that you have signed up for in one of our Guided tours or any of our Climbing Adventures is demanding.  In fact, you will likely be climbing and descending off of many of the most challenging mountains that the world has to offer.  The Galibier and Tourmelet are famous for a reason: They are HARD!  Therefore, could you imagine climbing and descending on any bike other than the one you have trained so hard on to do the tour?  Your fit is dialed in, you know the gears and shifting, and you know precisely how it handles.  Would you risk the enjoyment of your tour by having to fiddle with the fit on your bike?  Would you want to look down 18km of high speed technical decent straddling a bike that you are not sure how it handles or brakes?

We WILL gladly rent a bike to you for Guided and Climbing Adventure tours, but please understand what you could be distracted with.  Renting road bikes on these tours is not a huge profit center for us as it is with other companies.  We just want you to enjoy the tour as much as possible.  That is our #1 priority.

We realize that traveling with a bike can be cumbersome and expensive. To help ease these burdens we sell Biknd bike cases at a DEEP discount to our client.  Check out their website for more information.
